Understanding Piling Foundations 🏗

Ever wondered what exactly a "piling foundation" is? Here's a quick overview:

- Pilings are long, slender columns driven deep into the ground to support structures like buildings and bridges.

- They provide stability by transferring loads through weak surface soil to stronger layers down below.

- Materials used include concrete, steel, timber. They have a round, square or hex shape.

- A pile driver hammers the pilings into the ground until suitable soil or bedrock is reached to anchor them.

- The depth provides resistance against vertical loads, lateral forces and uplift.

- Once installed, the pilings are tied together with a pile cap and the structure is built atop.

- Piling foundations work where the surface soil is too soft, unstable or wet to support a conventional foundation.

- They are commonly used for bridges, tall buildings, and industrial facilities.

Let us know if your project needs the strength and support of a piling foundation!
